The Montreal Institute of Classical Homeopathy

Program Description

Year One: Homeopathy Theory & Fundamentals, Treating the Individual & Case Taking

When homeopaths take a case, they initiate a journey that will run through many layers of human experience. Throughout this journey, the homeopath is helping the patient pursue deeper levels in order to grasp the essence of the disharmony and match it with a homeopathic remedy. Homeopathic remedies contain the quantum-level energetic signature of a natural source. This energy medicine taken internally by the body can release a creative impulse that is "caught" in a distorted expression. This descent into the patient’s consciousness and resolution with a homeopathic remedy is a process that had to wait for Jungian psychology and quantum physics in order to be fully understood and worked with in an effective way.

A method and a map have evolved during two hundred years of homeopathic practice. Case taking groundwork is laid by understanding the science of homeopathy and the basic principles that guide classical homeopathic practice.

Readings include the following books among others:

  • Hahnemann: Organon & Lesser Writings
  • Hahnemann: Chronic Diseases Vols 1 & 2
  • Hahnemann: Chronic Diseases, Theoretical part
  • Allen: Chronic Miasms
  • Kent: Lectures on Homeopathic Philosophy
  • Robert: Principles and Art of Cure
  • Close: Genius of Homeopathy
  • Pierre Schmidt: The Art of Interrogation
  • Dr. P Sankaran: The Elements of Homeopathy
  • Dr. P Sankaran: The Spirit of Homeopathy
  • Dr. P Sankaran: The Substance of Homeopathy
  • G. Vithoulkas: The Science of Homeopathy

The evolution of homeopathic understanding and practice will be clearly exposed in a seamless interweaving of old and new. Clinical practice runs throughout the course, and begins, unlike many schools, right away in first year with in-class cases and role playing, cured cases and taped cases.

Year Two: Advanced Philosophy, Case Management & Clinical Experience

Students begin to do their own research on remedies and provings and share their results with their group and the class.

Continued study of Hahnemann’s Organon and other original sources of the most authentic and successful classical homeopathy deepens the students’ understanding of the philosophy and methodology which makes homeopathy a superior system of medicine.

Based on this solid groundwork, students develop their consultation, observation and perception skills through clinical observations, and the presentation of acute and chronic case studies under the guidance of an experienced homeopath.

The courses focus on helping students to understand symptoms based on one's relationship to the archetypal world; the use of language and imagery, energetic sense, intuition and a non-dualistic framework to help inquire and make sense of apparently conflicting information.

Year Three: Complex Cases & More Clinical Experience

The material taught in the two previous years is consolidated at the advanced level of the practitioner. This year is critical in integrating all of the material with practical applications, allowing the student to become confident in their methodology and understanding of the science and art of homeopathy.

Advanced case taking and clinical experience, complex cases, severe acute and chronic disorders, lesser known remedies, and management of cases form the core of the training in the final year.

The MICH Clinic provides the perfect environment for internship and homeopathic supervision. A fully stocked reference library, homeopathic computer programs and remedies are made available to MICH Interns as they build their client base during their supervision.
