admission requirements

We welcome your interest in becoming a homeopath and joining the growing number of practitioners who desire to offer an ecological, humanistic and holistic method of health care. It is important for us, as it should be for you, that the training at MICH is a "good fit" for your unique gifts and qualities.

eligibility

Applicants to the Certificate and Diploma programs should possess a High School Leaving Certificate, preferably with passing marks in biology and chemistry, and two years of post secondary education, preferably in a science, health, psychology or therapeutic-related field.

For applicants to the D.Hom. Diploma Program, one of the following degrees is recommended in order to meet the scientific/academic requirements of the homeopathic professional associations:

  • Bachelors Degree in Science

  • Bachelors Degree in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work

  • Medicine (MD)

  • Naturopathy (ND)

  • Nursing or Medical Technology

  • Acupuncture, Chiropractics, Osteopathy

  • Natural Health Consultant Diploma

Students who do not have the above requirements may apply for ‘special student status’. The  courses required for the DHom diploma can be taken concurrently with or even after the training. Please contact MICH for details.

interviews

Homeopathic practice is based on humanistic and holistic models of medicine and requires conscious awareness and involvement in one’s own transformative journey.  Willingness to personally evolve, and to follow the recommendations for additional training or counselling, if and when required, is one of the many attributes that the Admissions Committee will ascertain during the required interview for admission. This process will help the applicant decide if the programme is truly suited to his or her interests, as well as determine what additional training is required to meet professional DHom status.

upon acceptance

Please include all of the following with your application:

$50.00 non-refundable application fee.

Curriculum vitae (no longer than 2 pages) outlining work and academic experience.

A 500-750 word essay on why you wish to become a homeopath.

A short paragraph describing what the word ‘holistic’ means to you.

Photocopies of transcripts from all previous educational institutions– sent directly by the educational institution to MICH if necessary (contact us first)

deadline for applications

Applications should be received as soon as possible to allow for processing and for course pre-requisites to be filled.  Final Interviews for acceptance will begin in January 2009.

Diploma program costs are difficult to estimate as it depends on where you take the courses which complement the homeopathy training. (see below)

the montreal institute of classical homeopathy offers:

 1.   A Certificate  in Homeopathy

 2.    A full D.Hom. Diploma  in Homeopathy by offering the certificate program training and accrediting the complementary courses required to be a professional homeopath.

option 1: certificate program in Homeopathy

This is the training currently being offered by MICH. For those who already have another type of practice and who simply want to add the technique to their practice, the certificate is an excellent option. If you wish to have the D.Hom designation, you must fulfill the diploma requirements as listed below. MICH can accredit the courses if they meet requirements.

option 2: full diploma program in homeopathy

provides you with all the training needed to be recognized provincially (Quebec), nationally, and internationally as a practitioner of  homeopathy.  For those who do not have previous training or a Bachelors degree (see requirements) courses are available in English at the Institute NHC to fulfill the requirements of the professional associations and councils such as the International Council of Classical Homeopathy. (see the Charts below) If you have taken some of these courses elsewhere, MICH can credit them as long as they meet requirements. CEGEP and university courses are viable options as well.

Most of the required courses given at Institute NHC are taught by the same teachers who teach at MICH, providing you with fully integrated training. Institute NHC offers flexibility in scheduling and course offerings.

For more information on courses given at the NHC call 514-485-3859 or visit www.nhcinstitute.com (see links) or by email:  info@nhcinstitute.com
